A person with an addiction is like a bird tied to a rope; it doesn't matter whether the bird is attached to a thick rope (overt addictions) or a thin thread (subtle addictions), the bird is unable to fly free until the rope or thread has been cut.

Transformation and Freedom
Everyone has a burdened conscience, whether they recognise it or not - spiritual practise is the way to bring it to the fore. In recognising and naming our burden, we can accept it, lay it down and watch it transform. Then we can begin to live in true spiritual peace, which is spiritual freedom.
